I also have the canon powershot and my camera does the same thing, it gets blurry when you do a close up shot. I guess thats the way they are!!

Nice buy on the T1i. That is what i shoot with currently. There are better cameras but this one is pretty killer. Hit me up if you have any questions. To really get the most out of the camera dive right into the Tv, Av and manual modes and learn the exposure triangle. Good times.

I am also currently shooting with a T1i and go back n forth between the kit 18-55 and 55-250 IS. Mostly the latter stays on.
