Default Camera Help Everyone

Sorry this is not Directly related but i have a question that people here can answer. Since I have been married, I have seen my wife start to take an interest in photography. She's using an old minolta camera that I bought years ago, and while, it does good, its been used alot, dropped, bumped and thumped a few too many times. I dont have alot of money to spend this christmas but If there are some less expensive options out there to consider to get started in, please chime in a let me know
-Will

Well, if she's looking to get into digital SLRs, the Nikon D60 or Canon XSi are probably the best bets, depending on which brand she wants. They're small, relatively cheap, and can use a wide variety of lenses, accessories, etc. If she's looking for a point-and-shoot good enough for R/C photography, the options are probably limited to the Canon G** series, they're pretty much all good.

This would/will be a christmas present from me, She doesnt have any idea that i am looking into this. I have hinted around about it and I know that she would love to have a nice camera, something that she could make a hobby out of. I looked at the models you suggested and they both look like great items. I also looked at the G11 and its a really nice one I thought as well.
I want to get here one of the Nicer ones mentioned (like the nikon D60) but I dont want to get her anything that a first timer cant handle. Do you think I would be better getting her one of the G series Camera' over the others or are they within new persons range of useage? The first experiance is always the most important, I dont want to make a hassle of it for her first one.
Sorry for so many questions but I really dont know much about Camera's and photography.
Thanks
-Will

D60 will be a better choice if she has the interest. When the photographer's skill increase, it won't let the user down.
G11 spec actually put some basic SLR to shame, would be as good, but you lack lenses changing function.

Unless I am attending a photographic session, for normal outing, G11 is sufficient.

Hope this help.
