Default WTB- Older electric truggy for friends son (new to the hobby)

Hi all,
My friends son has been showing a lot of interest in the hobby and his mom asked me if I can find a setup for him.
The mom doesn't have a lot to spend, she wants to stay around $200. I'd love to see him have an older 1/8th or 1/10th scale truggy setup. Something along the lines of a Ofna CRT or early Losi 8ight would be awesome. Since he's new, you can't beat the durability of a truggy.
They have nothing atm, so a kit that includes most of the starter items would be preferable (charger/ batts/ tx/rx).

Please let me know what ya have.
Thanks a bunch.

i would really consider something else, while truggies are nice, for a beginner they are just way too fast and powerful. start him with a slash or rustler, 200 rtr, comes with everything you need, and will have unmatched support.

you will have a hard time finding even a roller in decent condition let alone all the tools, radio, batteries, and electronics too for 200 dollars.

Thanks for the thoughts.
He is new to the hobby, however he is coming on 13 so he has a fair understanding of what it entails and is really excited to learn it. He's driven mine a few times and has the utmost respect for my gear and keeps it well within reason for his ability.
Furthermore I want to get him a car that is not only durable/ a quality kit, but something that he is able to grow into and advance with.

Truggies by no means have to be faster then a Slash or Rustler. Throw a 3S setup on there and it would be a very nice combo of power & control.

Budget is an issue and they understand that, but on the same token you have members who would love to help out a kid get into the hobby by willing to forgo a little bit of profit. I'm here for his support and tools and w/e else I can provide, but you're right it will be a tough task.

most won't sacrifice that much. even a killer deal on a rtr truggy setup will be pushing 700-800 when you end up buying everything you need. he can always sell the slash or other 2wd, and move to something different if he has more funds in the future. good luck though.

Well that would be true if we wanted a current generation platform, which is not what were looking for.
However they understand that their price limits them, and they are hoping that something will come along with a good fit for them. If not then hopefully they will continue to save until the budget meets the goods. At this moment they are unable to afford more though.

hey, I've got a HPI Bullet Flux MT I'd sell ya. If you're looking for a beginner truck, it's more than likely perfect. I bought it last week and it's just too small for me, comes with a ton of parts and some upgrades plus lipos and a 2.4ghz HPI system. The handling is phenomenal, jumps like a champ with minimal chassis slap....and it would come RTR minus a charger.

Thanks for the suggestions, though a solution has been found for him.
