Find out what your local track allows you to run. at our local track, we are only allowed to run the 17.5 brushless motors in our SC10's, Blitz, Mod Slash, Losi, etc...
Tekin is great but expensive too. Novak has been great for me and a bit cheaper than the Tekins. A good used Novak GTB esc will run average of $50 and a good used Novak 13.5, 17.5, and 21.5 will cost on average of $45.
The used Tekin esc's prices are roughly $75 and up. Used Tekin motors Ive seen for $50 and up.
Unless someone hooks you up with a great price on a Tekin combo, Id go with the Novak systems. Most every hobby shop carry the Tekin and Novak products.
Hope this helps in your search.
