Default Mugen MBX-5 Starter Box Plates

I'll have some pics up shortly, but I just produced a set of starter box lineup plates for the Mugen MBX-5. I have been using one for years and for some reason at the last round of the RCProseries EAST a bunch of drivers ask me to make some. I ran a dozen or so on the CNC table at work. They are all made out of 1/2" black PVC and are super durable and easy to use. Basically you just mount it to the top of your starter box and align it. It has a CNC cutout of the Mugen MBX-5 chassis so no need to use those lame pegs anymore. Lines up perfect every time. Just seeing if there is any interest before I make any more. I have a dozen or so right now. I'm selling them for $21.00 each shipped.

Pics shortly.
Regards,
Wade

Default Almost forgot

I made these plates to work with the stock mugen chassis, or the Fioroni chassis (I run the 4mm Fioroni myself). The hole is slightly bigger as pictured to accomodate both chassis, and the side mud guards.

Any idea if these will possibly fit a XB8? They look as if they might.

Default ?

I'm not sure, but I suspect they will. I should be able to test them on other buggies at the races this weekend. If you want to purchase one I'd be happy to give you a full refund if it does not work.

They really make the starter box work the way it should. Put it this way, I had 4 drivers with Mugens using my box to start new motors at the last big race...it was the only one that would turn them over.

Just wondering, how's the fit with the rock guards on? It looks fine with the bare chassis, but no one runs without the guards.

Default Good Question

If you look closely at the chassis picture, you will see that I expanded the outline so tha the rock guards are included. It has a bit of wiggle room but centers just fine. I spent months playing with these and have the MBX-5 perfect. I can take any MBX-5 on the track, plop it down on the box (no adjusting at all, simply set it down), put pressure on the top of the head of the motor and it will fire perfectly every time...provided you mount the plate straight in the first place. I would say the entire buggy can move a 1/16" or so in any direction once in the plate. I didn't want it too tight or it would be a pain in high stress situations, like a flameout in a 45 minute A main.

Hope this answers your question.

Any way you can take a pic of one on a Mugen Starter box that your freinds may have? Thanks

Default Payment

Anyone wanting one can simply make payment via paypal to:
[email protected]

As far as a pic of one mounted on a Mugen box, don't think I can. I don't actually know anyone that owns a Mugen box...not a lot of them around. Technically the plate can be mounted on any box. they plate is only 1/2" or so wider than the chassis itself, and it can be screwed down in the center of the plate. No reason in the world it wouldn't work on every box, or even a custom wheel setup.

Have you ever thought of making one of these for the XXX-NT? A guys used to make one for the gas truck a couple years ago but stopped making them. My buddy is picking up one of these for our XB8 but we are now looking for one for out XXX-NT AD2!

Thanks

Default Plates

Not at this time, the stadium truck thing has kinda gone down hill a bit. I do have a few new designs coming out next week. Kyosho SP2, and the Jammin CRT.

The nice thing about the gas trucks is there are only 3 versions you would need to make. NT, GT, MST-1. It would not be as big an effort as the 50 different buggies out there! I will keep my eye out in case you change your mind.
