Yes they do nimh/nicd and yes you do need a power supply.
heres the specs on it:
A blue backlight for graphing LCD makes for easier viewing in almost any lighting conditions!
Racers put winning first — and so does the TC-1030 Pro Charger. Like all winners, it delivers what the competition doesn't — and does it all from a footprint that't 60% smaller than the unit you're probably using now. Yet, even with more charging modes, LiPo compatibility and new motor functions, the TC1030 Pro can also offer racers an edge in economy as well as performance. And that makes the best little charger in racing, one of the biggest values in R/C.
Five charge methods, plus a top-off function that fully charges NiMHs without overheating.
Lithium battery compatibility gives this charger a big edge in versatility over the competition!
0-25mV peak sensitivity for NiCd and NiMH cells — including 1mV and 2mV options.
Includes thermal cutoff*.
Comes with TWO charge adapters: to standard connectors and to Deans® Ultra™ male plugs
Not one, but TWO cooling fans, to increase efficiency and extend the life of the charger.
Loaded with other features, such as recall for 10 full cycles, multiple displays, preinstalled banana plugs and included alligator clips, safety features and much more.
