Default Possible Scam attempt - I need you thoughts

I had someone purchase something from me from the forum. He said he needed it by the weekend. He made paypal payment but paypal reversed the charges this morning. The reason Paypal gave was User did not authorize transaction. I have not shipped the item and notified the buyer of the problem. I don't plan on shipping the item until the buyer resolves the issue with paypal.

I'm not real familiar with paypal and wonder if there are any other actions I should take. Anything 'm missing here?

Maybe he wanted to pay you then you would ship it and he gets his cash back.

Either way, dont ship until there is cash in your account.

Honestly I dont think I would sell to that guy after that happened.

I would avoid at all costs. Cut your losses, skip him and find a new buyer.

Rule 1
Always wait until funds clear, before shipping.

I wouldn't ship till payment was cleared.

Though, I did have paypal hold a payment I made once when they couldn't get in contact with me to verify my purchase. I had to click some button on my page to say I authorized the payment.

They tend to call me to verify payments only when it drains my cash in my paypal account. They seem to not bother when it comes from my checking =).

i would wait till this is resolved just because he is a member since 2007 doesnt mean much he has a low post cound and no feedback.

i would avoid all together being paypal stepped in and reversed the transaction like another member said maybe he wanted the truck and his money back i am sure others would want to buy your stuff just be cautious

i tend to avoid newbies all together and if i do deal with them payment first then i transfer payment from paypal to my account to be sure once it clears then i send out the item only for newbies you cant be to cautious

avoid him at all costs. if you continue the deal you will more than likely lose your money and car. (ive been down that road). repost your ad and sell it to someone else. tell the other guy to go sit and spin, he was trying to rip you off. post his name so none of us get stuck doing a deal with this sleeze bag

This issue is resolved and it was a random investigation by PayPal. We both called PayPal to get this clarified. All parties are now happy.

Me too. I ran an ebay store for a couple years.Had it happen once.Since then if I sell an item over 50.00 I print the shipping label and then go to the ATM and turn it into cash before anything shady has a chance to happen.

since I started doing that I have had 2 instances where paypal went to refund the payment due to an "unauthorized charge"and since there was no funds there either paypal could give them the money or they got what they paid for and actually had to pay for it.
