Twister Comm Lathe

Hey guys I recently acquired the famed Reedy Lathe, so now its time for my venerable Twister Lathe to go

This is the newer (relatively) black model. It cuts great, no problems at all. No taper, and no runout. Comes with diamond bit. Comes with original twister case, and (drumroll please) MANUAL!!!! Also has teflon motor shims and 1/8" collars to hold the armature in place.

The ONLY flaw with it is that the v blocks have MILD wear from when a certain someone (i refuse to name them! heh) forgot to oil an armature. This happened a couple of years ago, and since then i've cut many motors and checked the taper. Which basically means the wear is cosmetic, as it doesnt affect the function of the lathe at all.

Check the pics for yourself to see the condition. (Note: pics show lathe with carbide bit, however it does indeed come with diamond bit. The carbide bit was used to do some experiments with tool height)

Again, this lathe works fine, makes good cuts, and has tight ways.

How many shims do you have under the bit?

Enough so that the bit is slightly above center. I estimate that it is .003" above center at most, and .001" above center at minimum.
If you really must know the exact shim amount I suppose I can go measure it for you.
