Default Best way of Finding center to draw center line?

Ok real noobish question. When u draw a center line down the length of a shell you are painting, how are you marking center? I've been measuring with a tape measure but feel like my line can be off from time to time and I'm wondering how you all do it.

I start from an edge and draw my design to about the middle. trace the design and transfer to the other side, where the design crosses is he center.

The only time I will do a center line is if I am doing logos or old school strips and it needs to be right on. I just use a ruler with a body line as a reference.

+1 on previous comments.

If I want a good centerline, I find a midpoint near the front of the hood, one on the top of the roof, and one near the back, then I lay down a strip of 1/16" tape that hits all three points. Close enough for RC cars.

The best way is to find the centre of the grill,at the front and make a Lillie Mark, using a permanent marker, then the same at the back, between the rear spoiler mount, again make a little mark, now by using a piece of string, tape one end at the front on the Mark you made and the same at the other end and you now have your centre line, when you do many shells the same, always use a centre line, you can make up templates, so that one side will now be the same as the other by using this centre line to work from
