It's the simplicity that makes the difference. This is what a REAL race car would be painted like. Look at them - they are usually simple. I'm a huge fan of simple, but realistic, paint schemes.

Pretty simple paint job, but the body looks good. Exotek P-Zero. I was running the Riley GT but it was taken off the approved body list, so I this looks to be the closest.

Just finished my Protoform Corvette C7.R last night. It pretty much looks like the Protoform website version in the pics but it actually has a deeper yellow transparent paint backed by a pearl white that catches the light and turns kinda greenish and other colors depending on the angle.
My goal was a "racecar" to race. Like Darkside says ".....I make motor noises in my head when I race.
