BODY PAINTER WANTED NICE WORK FOR CHEAP :)
#2
A lot of people don't realize just what goes into painting an R/C shell. If you took the average price that is charged by most of the painters on this board, subtract the materials used, then divide that by the number of hours required to do the job, I bet most of us are working for cheap.
I make a lot more per hour at my regular job than I do painting shells. Why do I do it then, because I enjoy it. When the enjoyment goes away, we get burned out, and just have to walk away for a while.
Here is an interesting post for those of you that think painting a shell is expensive. http://forums.thetoyz.com/index.php?showtopic=21012
Remember, you get what you pay for.

Not really. If you read the thread mentioned in B24's reply, you start to see where the costs add up. Years ago I was getting a few requests to paint bodies, and quickly got to the point where I stopped painting altogether because it wasn't worth the time or hassle.
Bottom line is - if you want a paint job that's nice, cheap, and within a certain time frame, you'd better learn to do it yourself.

There are some people on here that will do a decent paint job for around $80 plus shipping with body included. I would say thats on the cheap side for custom painted. Don't know if that is what you figure as cheap OP.

I used to paint many moons ago. But I got totally burned out. Doing 5-10 a day for 10 years was enough for me. Now I struggle to even do a few for myself.
I cannot believe people can afford to paint even the simplest body for under $100. Materials are not cheap. I estimate it costing over $25-$35 to paint a body not including the body.
If anyone wants to do my bodies and can copy my design exactly please let me know.
