Patience and practice.

That style of external mix sprayer (I hesitate to call it an airbrush) will do fine for broad coverage, but forget fine control and details.

You can still paint some excellent bodies with it.

I would say get a different airbrush too. You get on/off and splattered with that style brush. Ok for big solid colors but very limited on anything else.
If you have a hobby lobby near you print off their 40% off coupon and get the iwata neo cn. It comes out to be about $38. By far the best cheap airbrush I have found. It will take you as far as you want to go in rc painting.
