read this article and look around on the net they are not acutall that hard to do just look about to see how different peps do it so you can get an idea how it's done to look good

practice on a peice of paper or something.

i practice on glass because it's a hard surface and it reacts kind of like lexan but when some just take a razor scraper and remove, but their are alot of ofther things you can practice on

Haunted Myst's article is good, but the site I learned off of was Ron's Paint Tips

There's a ripped flame job he did using masking tape for the ripped edge, which is probably the most realistic rip edge you can use.
