I painted my own car and while I think it came out ok I am ruff on driving and damaged the body beyond use rather quickly on the field. I did notice some people used a black tape like material on the inside of the body to what appeared to reenforce the body on the weaker points where you normally would break it or where the tire would rub the paint off.
Whats the material called and is it for reenforcing the body?
My first paint job.

Yeah for reinforcing you use the drywall repair tape (is the grid pattern type, not the paper type). It has a somewhat tacky side and you just lay that into the body and use your fingers to mold it into the body lines and such. Then take shoe goo and spread it through and over the tape with your finger. Then let dry really good. Becomes hard as a rock. I use this method in the fronts and rears of my VTA bodies due to their shape they take damage bad.
I also use electrical tape inside wheel wells where tires rub on VTA and SC bodies just so the tires to rub paint when suspension flexes. Usually 2 layers. On SC trucks (due to tire aggressive tread)you may had to replace it now and then but its just electrical tape so it isnt expensive. Just give the tires something to slide on instead of the paint.
Hope this helps

Way back when we used athletic tape. Took a beating. I'm guessing the Gorilla tape would be awesome.
I would do the back bumper and the bottom edges of the body when we were racing rally cars. Rocks would chip the living daylights out of them.
I've also used...
However I'd test it out before spraying it to see how it reacts with the paint your using. Added weight but I never did the whole body just high rub area's.
