Default testors lacquer paint sucks

I had horrible results with this paint. Will I ruin my body if I try to remove the old paint with lacquer thinner.

Just out of curiosity... Pactra, right? From the jars you airbrush or the cans?

I inherited some old cans of the stuff when I first started...and it oozed out of the can. Thank god i tested on a scrap piece first. I have yet to even touch the stuff again...and I hear mixed results with it. Lots of negative stuff.

Since it's lacquer I think it kinda eats at the lexan to adhere. I hate to be the bearer of bad news...but I think you're going to have to live with it.

Sounds like you used testors laquer paint for plastic model kits and not pactra for polycarbonate lexan bodies (which is part of testors and rpm inc) I usually use tamiya polycarbonate paint which is much better, but use pactra when I can't find tamiya and I only buy pactra if its in their new cans because 90% of the time if you buy an old can it will puke all over ya when you are spraying it....I know its been a year since you asked this question..do you still have the body? Whatever you do, dont use the thinner it will burn a hole into the lexan and ruin. Your best bet is to sand the inside with an sos pad and warm water and the paint should scrape off.

hi guy's, testors does lexan paint in the little glass jars and is best thinned with just ordinary general purpose thinner's yes that's right ordinary thinner's, just thin it down till your happy with the consistency more thinners to paint that stuff is thick. As for removing the lacquer try mineral turps and again thinners, this time more turps than thinners the turps, weakens the strength of the thinners ,just fill a little measuring cup with a little turps and a couple of drops of thinners at a time, each time testing it and then adding a few more drops and so on,be careful not to add to much so as to smoke the lexan ,just till you start to see results(also good for stripping paint of old shells) I use this method all the time.I hope this helps.
