Default Looking to open a sign shop in Mid-Mo. Need advice from you pros!!

Hey guys!

I'm looking to start a sign shop here in Mid-Mo.

I know there are alot of you guys on this forum that do this.

First I want to say I WILL NOT try to compete with you here on RCTech. I give you my word on that.

But I would like some help from you guys in knowing what I need to get started... What you guys are using for your decals.. where you get your vector art, what software you use, where do you get your "templates" for doing wraps and such.... etc.

I've already purchased a Roland VersaCamm VP540. But need to know what else I need material wise, etc.

I've read something about laminating but not sure why this is necessary... etc.

I'm sure I'm asking alot.. but any help you could provide would be great.

Hit me in a PM or here on this post.

Thanx guys!

-David

Material, look at Convex for wraps.
Decals, you can use some cheaper material.(Oracal, Arlon, etc...)

as far as artwork, there are lots of fills you can buy.
But, I draw 90% of everything I do.(Flames, etc...)

Templates are hand made.

I use Lam 100% of the time.
They look much better(gloss) and nitro fuel & certain cleaners won't eat the decal.

PM or email me with any more Q's.

There is plenty of work to go around as there are only a few of us who do "true custom" R/C work & we are covered up 99% of the time.

Welcome to world of printing.
Use only OEM ink!!!

+1 to what Tres said.

The other major thing you are going to need is time, 20 hour work days get to be a lot of fun! lol

Always use laminate. I use a Royal Soverign 65" cold laminator.

Depends on what it's for.
I use a mix of 3M, Convex & Oracal.

7 - 12mil Convex is used mainly on MX & Karting items
Basic cheap decals: Oracal 210G

Chad: 20 hours..SLACKER

Hey guys!

Thanks for the interest from the locals...

Also thanks for the help from you pros!!

I'm figuring out that there is a HUGE learning curve to this but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it quickly.

I'm currently researching (with the help of Tres) what software to go out and buy and then it's on to learning how to use said software effectively.

I'll keep everybody posted!

Thanx again!
