Justin, the 66-68 Mustangs has faux air ducts in the rear quarter panels. 69-71 Mustangs used the same main chassis, roof, doors, and rear quarters/rear deck with different front end grille treatments & head lamp positions for each year. 69 & 70 used the same front fenders with different grill/headlights and 71 used different slightly longer frint fensers front fenders with a much wider grille opening. Also used unique tail lamps each of the three years.
I wanted to attach a picture but for some reason it won't let me. All that I know is 66-68 is one body style, 69&70 is another with some differences, and 71-73 or 74 is another. What's interchangable between years I have no clue. I'm not a mustang guy hah.

After further looking into it, it seems not all 69 mustangs had the ducts in the quarter panels. 71 I can say used different rear quarter panels, rest might be the same though I never paid much attention to my mothers Mach 1.

Where's the Ducts?
Just to set the record straight, the '69 was the only year for the rear quarter scoop and on the Boss models the scoop was deleted. Larry Shinoda, the designer of the Boss didn't like the fake scoop on the car. That's why you don't see the scoops on the Boss models...
A quick breakdown of model years that are similar:
65-66
67-68
69-70
71-73
The 65-70 used the same floor pan and other sub structures, but the car was continually widened/lengthened for better ride and to fit big-blocks starting in '67. The 71-73 was a whole different story with revised sub structure, integral steering, and more.
I've got several HPI Mustang bodies myself, but haven't gotten the '70 Boss yet...
HTH...

You can also get Limelight/Sublime in the Testors Auto Lacquer line, as well as many other "unavailable" factory colors.
They work perfectly well for Lexan, and are much cheaper than MCW jars. And MCW still refuses to join the 21s century and use e-mail or phone for ordering (only fax or snail mail forms for ordering). Great selection of product, but a PITA to get if you don't have a dinosaur fax machine sitting around collecting dust.
