Dissapointing, and yeah, I have yet to actually see one that lasted, no matter how it was mounted. Many of the guys at my track have simply stopped even mounting the pieces.

I mostly ran Cudas, and with a couple of nylon 4-40 screws and nuts on top of the servo tape to mount the rear bumper, I tore up plenty of Cudas, and never once had a rear bumper come off.



This body won't be any different—mount it poorly and it will come off. Mount it properly, and you shouldn't have any issues.



There really is not too many other ways to manufacture a body like this with undercuts on bumpers without doing it in multiple pieces. If you don't, you tend to get tubby looking cars like the Pegasus or Parma bodies that don't use those methods.

Yep, I agree. My old Cuda is pretty beat up but the butt end is still there. I just tried the Pantera too and if anybody's seen that, the back end is pretty high off the ground. You'd think getting hit from behind would be a big issue since the very bottom edge would take a beating. It's still there !!

Thanks for posting a photo of how you've mounted the tail on your 'Cuda. I've found that screws are much better for mounting the rears on the HPI 'Cuda & HPI Mustangs if you are going to be racing the body. My experience with good double sided tape is that it either doesn't hold well or holds so well that it pulls the paint off the body.

On my latest HPI 'Cuda body I used drywall mesh tape & Liquid Nails (similar to Shoe Goo but isn't as flexible when dry/cured). Here is a link to the Liquid Nails website for additional information http://liquidnails.com/products/prod...p?productId=74

Here is a picture of the inside rear of my body. This car has about 3 weeks of racing and has already been battle tested with good results.

The AMX, its a wonderful thing.

Some time ago I e-mailed HPI requesting that they produce that body and some bonehead responded that they didn't do bodies for individuals. As if I was the only one who wanted one. Now for the Porsche 911 and the Beemer which were in T/A.

Well it's great to see that Protoform came through with their new Javelin VTA body; very nice! My hat's off to them.

Andy at HPI could learn a thing or two from Protoform about showing us new bodies when they say they will, instead of teases that go on for weeks or even months without showing anything. We have been hearing about 2 or 3 new VTA bodies from HPI for a long time now and are still waiting.

The AMX was NOT legal for Trans-Am racing. It did not have a rear seat and was shorter than the Javelin. It ran SCCA against Corvettes (2 seat Coupe Class).
