Default Working on a Pit Board

I was working on a Pit Board and ran into some trouble. I sandwiched a peice of carbon fibre cloth between two peices of plexiglass and need to seal the edges. I used super glue but it wicked into the cloth and turned the egdes white. Any suggestions for my next attept? Also what do you use to hold the plexiglass together? I used screws and thread inserts but had to grind them flat on the bottom.

I would seal the edges before putting everything together.
As for the screws, how about tapping the top piece of plexiglass on the inside where the cloth goes.
Then use a flathead screw through the bottom with perhaps a dab of shoe glue.
(this would be permanent, but I would imagine if you needed to take it apart, it would be time a new one anyways.)
This way the surface will be nice and flat without any holes on the working area.
I added an image to show what I mean.

Hot glue might work. or even a sort of super glue, but if you use super glue youll need to do one side at a time and make sure its upright while it dries 10-20 minutes.

Ive had some experience w/carbon fiber bodywork. Best bet is this

Layer of Plexi ======
Layer of epoxy ~~~~~
Layer of Carbon -------
Layer of Epoxy ~~~~~
Layer of Plexi ======

If you just try sealing the edges with some type of adheasive, there will always look like theres a line around the edge where the liquid ends. For body work we use gallons of epoxy. About $100/gallon of the good really clear stuff. There are cheaper ones that are more amber/yellow color. I bet you can use the 20/30 minute clear stuff that you find in squeeze bottles at your LHS. Do not get the 5 minute stuff that comes in a double barrel tube. You may want to try to run some scotch brite over the surface of the plexi that touches the epoxy so it bites better. Epoxy doesnt like to bond to smooth or dirty surfaces so make sure the panell is super clean (soap + hot water)

To ensure no bubbles in your CF cloth while doing this, first "paint" the plexi with the epoxy, then lay the DRY cloth on top of that. Carefully "paint" the cloth and after that, slowly lower the other plexi piece on top of that so you dont trap any bubbles.

RW Mallon in PA got it for me. They are a PPG supplier.

Seal the edges with clear shipping tape.(heat it slightly)

I used 2 screws on mine.
One was longer and held the 2 pieces together while the other was for decoration to seem like one solid screw all the way through and fill the hole on the backside.

I can make a diagram if you need.
