Default Paint removal question

I have some Venom Mini Giant wheels that I painted. I used some paint left over from painting a body. I want to remove it now so I can dye them a different color.

What is the best way to remove the paint?

What kind of paint did you use? Acryllic or lacquer? If you used spray lacquer, I'm pretty sure any thinner you use to strip the paint is going to etch/melt the wheels right quick (unless of course, they're machined aluminum wheels, then you're fine). Otherwise, if it was fascolor acryllic, you might try rubbing alcohol (again, unless they're machined aluminum, in which case lacquer thinner will strip it off very very fast). If I were you though, I'd just spring for new wheels. It'll be a pain to get paint off long after it's cured, either way.

I ended up taking a chance and soaking them in Acetone, then using an old paint brush to break the paint free. It worked pretty good, but I need to do some light sanding before I dip them in the black dye.

Any chance you know if a red paint would be dyed black along with the white plastic?
