Default Serpent Viper 977-e EVO2 1/8 On-Road Car

Red RC ? RC Car News Serpent Viper 977-e Evo2 1/8th electric on-road kit

It looks nice, but is it a dramatic change over the 977-e? What size Motor and Batteries are needed?

Not much. Just an Alu chassis and new EVO2 rear end and body mount arms both can be retrofitted to the previous car. The EVO2 rear end is a very good upgrade and bolts straight on. 4s batteries use 2600kv 6s batteries use 1900kv.

I contacted Amain and they have not placed orders for any 977e Evo 2, so I emailed serpentamerica.com/ Deseto in Florida to see if there getting any. If not I will try theBorder.com to get it from them overseas. Is theBorder.com reputable as far as shipping to the U.S. ? Shipping cost hurt real bad from Europe

Well I got my 977e Evo 2 and started the build today. Do you guys use thread lock any where in the build like for the lay shaft holders/ bulkhead to chassis screws? Awesome quality and super easy so far.

The border is a good place to order from. I've ordered from them a few times. Always got my stuff in about a week or week and half.

The class looks super fun, I'm tempted.

No I don't use any threadlock anywhere on the car. On the nitro version I use threadlock on the pulley carrier grub screws only due to the higher vibration in the nitro car.

Thanks for the heads up on thread lock, Dan. I'm loving the build so far!

So what I have encountered is truly a work of art. I am almost done with the build and its an astonishing kit. These are the problems I encountered so far:

1) You really need to test fit the right rear arm and sand to allow clearance between the rear diff. pulley and arm. I had to sand and test fit repeatedly until the pulley cleared.

2) One of the bearings for the spur gear lay shaft was way too tight and had to be tapped on.

3) Be mindful of what servo you use and shim combination because the wire harness hit against the chassis and causes the top plate to be tweaked. I ended up using a Savox 1257 TG which cleared perfectly.

4) One of my shock ball studs wasn't machined all the way and I used a snap-on tap to finish it and clean it up.

5) One of the shock shafts had a burr on it which slightly damaged my o-ring.

6) Last damaged component was one bent screw (M3X8MM).

7) One change I'm making is to use (M4X10MM) for the ESC shelf and possibly the battery tray mounts instead of the supplied hardware.

Basically best kit I have ever built and super great quality. TAKE YOUR TIME AND ENJOY THIS BUILD.

Thanks Tim3. Well I just ordered a new Tekin RX8 Gen3 for speedo and I am going to test out a new Trinity D8 2300Kv but have my Tekin 2650Kv as an alternative motor. For batteries I'm leaning on Team EAM 8200mah 2s batteries but haven't ordered them yet. I will see what I can do about video Tim3 but as of right now I'm just waiting on the rest of my parts to arrive. On a side note I just got a new Hudy Ultimate Tire Truer but lucky me there are no carbide blades for sale stateside as far as Hudy is concerned. Does the CRC blade work with this tire truer?
