My winter project
I decided to laydown my motor as low as possible on my 1/5 scale 4wd FG. The first picture is the before 2nd after ......

The reason for laying down the motor is an attemp to lower the center of gravity to improve handling.

I would say your definitely on the right track with this......
May I say now you need to look at fabricating a new bracket so the air cleaner assembly, thats now pointing skywards, can be lowered towards the rear.
Do you think that would also help lower the COG hight too?

I agree with you British Menace I am working on a air cleaner.

Cool. One thing you do need to bear in mind nitrohead. From my old days of tuning 2 stroke engines, try not to alter the distance between the carb butterfly valve and the piston along the intake track.
This can have an effect on the mixture and throttle control.

Hey nitrohead. You didn't by any chance, check the COG height/ location, before/ after the mod did you?

Not a problem. As I have learned tinkering with 1:1 cars over the years, if it can't "breathe", your power and overall efficiency suffers. So, there is no difference between 1:1 cars or our little "toy" cars. I have seen some cone-styled K&N filters that look like they would work in place of the existing air filter/cleaner. Just something else to help the engine's performance.

...................The motor I have on the FG is a OBR 30cc full mod reed. Thats why the carb is sitting up so high. But you are right I should have measured the before & after. Now I have to see if I can fit my 2 speed in the space avaliable.

Success there was enough room to put the tranny in
