Default How to use 4 scales to balance a car for oval

I understand how to balance a road course car using 4 scales, but how do you set up the car for oval? Most of the weight will be on the left, so how do you adjust the Tbar? (I have a 12th scale car)
Thanks,
James

Ahh. you realy don't "balance" a car for oval per say. It is more of a split with wedge, weight distribution to the LF and RR and RF and LR. are you running a swizzle stick or 3 shock setup on the car? Also, in the front, you will need a softer spring on the LF and a firmer on the RF.

Confused?

I'm running a T-bar 12th scale with an IRS oval chassis. So you set LF and RR to equal RF and LR?

Hey just to let you guys know that we race pan up here in Washington and do pretty good at it. We do weigh our cars and set-up with %'s. We do run a heavier rf spring and we set up the car at 55-56%leftside weight. We run 49-49.75% diagonal cross and try to run around 52-52.3%rear weight. leave the tweek screws out and just ste up with the side shocks. This is just a start but it should be real close.

To use your scales, first you have to run your car on the oval track and get a baseline setup. Tune all day by changing tires, springs, oil, geometry, tweak, etc ... Once you've found a good fast, controllable setup, then put the car on the scales and note the tire weights.

This will be your starting point for the track next time you're there.

We have an article on our site about using scales on oval:

Go to the Technical section, then Team Tips ...
