Default 4WD Oval Racing?

Hey guys...I made this same post in the Electric forum, but I figured id post it here as well.

Do any tracks/clubs or any sanctioning bodies run 4WD cars on an oval? I remember a year or two ago there was some talk of a 4WD oval class surfacing somewhere. What ever became of it? Does anybody run 4WD ovals officially?

A group of us run em in our shop (a "real" stock car shop) and we made a short carpet oval in one of the side rooms. Some of us run TC3's (like me) and there are a couple guys with T-Specs and XXX-S's. But we just tinker around for fun.

Has anybody, or does anybody run an "official" 4WD oval class anywhere?

Nevermind...I found out they run these at the Birds every year.

Just wish they'd run em "officially" around here (chicago area).

racefan,, i know your in chicago,

but they are getting bigger every year down here in the south, i ran the class in 04 at the daytona spectaclur race and had a blast with mine, finished 2nd in the amain.

the new florida oval series has added the class to there line up this year, at all thier f.o.c.a.r. events ,, so maybe the movement will spread up your way soon,,

they are being runed at some tracks , not just at the snowbirds,, but with them being runned every year at the bird the more push that class will get,, but if they did stop running them there i think the class would die out unless a really big push from the racers came from the local club racing level came to save it.

but hey if you ever get the chance to race the class , dont pass it up its fun and i just like setting up cars with four independent shocks,, brings back the memories of the old dirt oval days..

good luck and hope you get to try the class out soon.

I sure hope the class works its way up here....at the very least id be happy with more mag/web coverage of these events.

If they are anything like our club, they are a blast.
