Curious to know more about your Rs5 supply in Germany. I may need parts from time to time so it's good to have options.
I really like my Rs5. It's very durable; I've raced the same car in two classes in extreme conditions at ROAR Nats for 4 straight years. I just don't race it enough to be competitive. (once annually). It's fast when I can dedicate the time to make it go!
Putting a HARM and RS5 in the same class as a Chinese knockoff is wrong and very inaccurate. They're all good cars; FG is the biggest brand which is great for the consumer but all the brands are pretty close from a race competitiveness standpoint. Each brand has their strongholds in different parts of the world.
I love my RS5 but from a support and "great people behind the product" standpoint, you can't lose in the U.S. with Contrast and FG. (in no particular order)
Hugh, I was going to ask you. You were the only one at the nats with an RS5 right? I saw pics of the nats and think I saw you. I like the design of the car and was going to ask you how you liked it. Noticed your from Canada, is it hard getting parts our are you ordering out of country also? Keep in touch........thanks

Yep I was the only one from Canada. I get local support, supply and a parts kitty from Dino of Samba RS5 Canada. But just in case it's good to have outside options. (ie Alan's Germany source)
The 5th scale market in Toronto/Canada is dead so it doesn't make sense for him to replenish stock. He has a day job but can order parts for me if needed. Haven't had to do so as the car is very sturdy and I only go through ballcups, tires and annual engine rebuild parts. Can get those anywhere.
You guys need to lighten up!!! I didn't mean to say they were in the same class--but just like YOU said Hugh--there aren't many RUNNING in the US!!!!! I said, Harm and RS cars----and the CHINESE knockoffs--are not competing currently with the FG and Contrast cars!! Just look at the entry listing--- and find the # of cars for each manufacturer entered!!!! And I went on to say Allan Trump's RS F-1 car is a great looking fast car! There are lot's of cars out there that COULD compete---there's just no one importing them!
Don't be so fast to JUMP to conclusions just because you see something in type face! Harry for example chides me for "completing" my car--even though I posted it was an EVO 4 picture "similar" to the build that is going to start today--Sat.
Enjoy the pictures when I get them up tomorrow--- and I'll try not to "type" anything that can be mis-construed into any other kind of negative comment. Relax, chill out and remember-- I'm just posting some "observations" and NOT trying to put any particular manufacturer down. Have a great day!!! Great racing with you Hugh.

Great video, Hugh. It should noted that Victor did a fantastic job with my HARM/FG hybrid. It was the first time he ran the car. If a ball didn't come out of the drive shaft, who knows.
I know this should be in the F/S threads, but if someone in the US is looking for a never mounted, never painted, FG Porsche GT1 body, send me a PM. I wanted to make a replica of the Paul Newman GT1, but have never gotten around to completing the car, and have not seen one for sale in the US for a while.

For those of you interested in HARM, I certainly would endorse them. I have an SX3 with all the latest parts as well as an FG EVO 8. I find it is just as easy to get parts from Rapid Racing for the HARM as it was to get FG parts especially if something is not in the US. I have also found it to be just as durable and I am hard on the right front since I only get to run ovals up here in New England.
The adjustments available on the car are incredible and as with the FG the realism in driving is awesome. The quarterscale guys I run with love my disk brakes and drool when I lock them up to avoid the wall or stop a spin. The diffs and technology are what drew me into 5th scale. I love the cars. They are big and fun to work on, sound and look awesome.
I think HARM lost a lot of drivers when the went from being part of ABC modelsport to being on their own. There was a spell when they were setting up their tooling that things slowed a bit. Since then they have really made some nice improvements to the SX-3, quick change diffs, even more adjustability and so on. They offer several levels to get into a car which allow for upgrades to the next as well as 465, 515 and 535mm wheelbases for any of the SX-3 models.
They have also released their new off road car. I am not sure, but I would imagine a refresh of their F1 is likely next.
They have always replied directly to a couple emails I have had. I was considering trying to become a distributor in the US but as I do not currently have a shop it would be difficult for me to build a useful stock to support the product.
