Oh my goodness, I have to say that is the funniest video I ever seen. It was as if it was only looking for bloopers. They should have played the "Coming of the Clowns" music. It would have been more appropriate.

But yeah, 1/5 racing is the cheapest form of racing there is when comparing to 8th scale on-road and especially 10th scale on-road. The only downside to 1/5 scale racing is the UP FRONT cost. But that is it. Once you get over the UP FRONT costs, then it is very affordable there after.

Man those F-1 cars are making me happy in the pants...

HPI is the way to go for offroad. Their 5B and 5T are the best quality Baja's out. I used to be naive and think a clone was as good a quality and I was dead wrong. The REAL Baja's that are made by HPI can take a beating. HPI has EXCELLENT customer service and if there is ever an issue all you have to do is give them a call and you will have your parts in less than a week.

As far as buying baja parts I would say go to Davesmotors.com as they have about the largest selection of baja parts I have ever seen. They carry everything from stock replacement parts to engines to exhausts to wheels and tires.

When it comes to 1/5th onroad I have no clue as I've never owned one. But I might here in the near future...... :-)

Hpis are good, but there is other out there as well, KING MOTORS is the best clone made by far and is alot cheap then the HPI baja..if I were to buy another Offroad buggy again I would buy the King motor clone, after seeing & driving one first hand they are very dependable..My buddy NAte has had his since MAy and has not had any break downs and for 579 SHIPPED to your door for a 29cc with a race pipe it a deal.... I would get a better radio, but most people dump the RTR radios anyway..

Most reliable for the money if you're going to race them are the FG cars!! We just had our Roar National event and if I'm not mistaken--I believe FG cars won in EVERY class!!! A complete sweep of the Nationals. The Contrast cars are very fast--but have not shown reliability-- leading in the STC class--the car broke a rear A arm and couldn't finish.
F-1 was also a sweep of the top 3 positions by FG cars-- 2 comp cars and a sportline!! Sportline F-1 cars are very fast in low-bite conditions-the comp cars seem better in high bite conditions. But very equal--a great way to start racing-- which is what I did. Bought two used cars--upgraded EVO 4 and a two year old Sportline F-1 car. The Evo has hydrolic brakes--the F-1 cable--both cars work very well and drive great. Very reliable and fun!!

Best west coast shops--VS Modellsport---http://www.vsmodelsport.com/

also Big Boys Toys--he sells cars but NO SUPPORT in parts. Bob Sarnelle of VS Modelsport is the way to go. They are the western importer for the FG Line!! Good information for racers --but you'll have to order almost everything you need. It takes about two weeks to get stuff from him.
FYI

I have to agree. Molzer Mowery is VERY expensive. Your best bets are vsmodelsport.com and pro5thscale.com. By far much better priced.

Well, I think I will be joining the 5th scale crowd soon, with an FG EVO 08-530 with Tuning Brakes and the BMW M3 Alms body (if in stock). If the M3 Alms body is not available, then I will be getting the McLaren body. But this is all pending on a new job I applied for.

A guy at my track brought in his 5th scale FG short chassis car and I lost it. I may get an F-1 car as well.

Yeah the price is crazy up front, but I won't have to spend much money there after. Just gas up and have fun! Literally.
