Now that a lot of you folks have had some seat time with the 1/8 late model class I have a few questions.
Will/can the ofna car hang with the Losi or converted cars (ie.rc8)?
I only ask because I have an old gtp I would like to convert over. The gearbox/diff/suspension setup is old/heavy technology. I don't want to sink money into this car if it really can't compete with the other cars anymore.
Also, should I get the Losi body or seek out one of the others out there? I was going to go for the Losi because frankly it's the easiest to find. Again if it's money not well spent let me know.
My local track runs a spec Losi tire if that helps.
The ravager or 9.5 based ofna's are good cars, I would stray from the GTP/ultra/lx cars, the diffs leak and are weak, limited suspension travel, and heavy. The Losi body is great as is the Precision stalker body and A+.

The Ofna cars can hang with anything out there, the diff's in our cars didnt leak, the new DO Pro cars has hardened gears in the diffs allready which are a must for the oval action, the car has plenty of travel they are just sent with stiffer shock oil and springs, and the C&M bodies are the best out there, but there is a new body for sale now that looks just as good IMO its in the business section at www.dirtoval.com
Thanks. I was on the fence if I was going to convert my gtp but I guess I will give it a shot. I also have an old worlds II with hardened gears in it that I can use. Looks like with tires a body and a few tweaks (shock towers ect) I can make it happen.

98% of the Do Pro parts will swap over to your GTP cars, if you want to really push it buy the offset dirtoval chassis and contact Andy at KSG motorsports and buy the shock towers to use Revo shocks on your car and there will be all kinds of travel, Andy sells the carbon fiber towers for 40.00 +shipping andy@ksgmotorsports.com
I took my old gtp and put revo shocks, with Rc for Less springs, on it with Mafia shock towers also has the hardened diff gears. I think it is competitive as anything at my local track. I am running the RJ Speed body

i definetly agree with sheetmetal and oval old timer gtp is the way to go and also with the c&m bodies are awesome i ran a losi body at the first of the year and it lasted about a month and a half and thats it rite in front of the front tires all the plastic was gone and as for getting parts from ksg andy is the fastest car i have ever see and a great driver his parts are perfect get the revos and spring kits you will have it made
You mean somebody make a metal body for that? What kind of metal? Steel or aluminum. I'd think it would have to be awful thick to keep from bending all to hell.
no no one makes metal bodys i have done it but if there thin they bend and if they dont bend there to heavy the best bodies i like is the ronnie sester bodys but we cant run them i dont know why but the rules state it has to be a molded one piece body
I make my bodys,if you like you can see them at myspace.com/dodgeramman9,they are not hard to make if you take your time,im not much of a painter but thay look more scale than the ofna bodys
