Default Large Scale OffRoad Club and Track in Michigan.

Sweet things on the way i think peeps. Im working with an AMA sanctioned motorcycle club in the thumb area of Michigan to have a Dedicated Off Road Track to race on in Michigan. Track is located 1.5 hrs north of Detroit area, 1.25 hrs from Sarnia at the Canadian border, 40 minutes from Saginaw Bay City, and one hr from Midland. 2 hrs from Mt pleasant, and around 4 hrs from Grand Rapids Lansing area.

I had a meeting today with one of the 2 club directors, and a couple of the active members. this PLACE IS SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the AMA Dirt oval they have is KILLER, but about 4 times too big as its for bikes.

but we hashed out some of the logistics of what we need for dirt area, and what can be done. went thru some tentative numbers, to see if we were on the same page. as of today, things are moving forward in a Very Positive way. I have to meet with them at their Spring meeting in April. That is when we will presenting to the full board, and will get concrete info on what we are looking at needing to get up n running.

SO IF YOU ARE SERIOUSLY INTERESTED IN LARGE SCALE RACING THIS SUMMER IN Michigan, 2WD, Buggy/Truck and 4WD Buggy/Truck, Please post a reply by saying CONFIRMED. i will need your name and contact info (please PM this information to me).

it doesnt matter if you only plan to make ONE race, or Every Race, if you plan to just come out and watch, please post CONFIRM. i would like to go to the April meeting with a List of participants and attendees. Depending on how the cards fall, we may be able to run OUTLAW the first year here, and club up anytime this yr or next spring. Though if commitment from Racers And Bashers is there (enough people interested that is) then we can club up and start out of the gate the correct way, which is what we should do. there is power in numbers.
FWIW, i have about 30 Confirms from Members on HBF. so thats a good start, but this is for ALL off road large scale rcs not just Bajas. there will be a couple classes depending on number of racers any given weekend..

IM going to start throwing together a bunch of things in the next 3 weeks to go to the meeting with, as well as I and a few local guys will need to start putting the Club together. i will start another thread about a club. please visit this thread and help with suggestions or solutions to the oranization and begging of this areas folks interested in becoming a club member.

In the end, it would be best to become a club member, but we MAY, as a club, allow non club members to race. but it would be really beneficial becomeing a member of this areas LS Club. its all starting at the beginning and there is much to do between now and the first race. so first order is Commit to this thread if you will make even one race this yr. and two, locate the club thread i ll be starting probably next weekend, and help get the club side of things rolling.

For Basic travel information. the track is east south east of Caro Michigan by the town of Deford.

BY Drive, it is about 30 minutes from the bay city saginaw area, 1hr from the Midland Flint area as well as approximatly one hr from the I 69 run into Sarnia, canada. Detroit people are about 1.5 hrs and 2 hrs from the SOUTH SIDE of detriot, Canada guys can gauge your drive time, by adding 1 hr to your drive time thru Sarnia, or 1.5ish hrs to your drive time thru Detriot. Turtle and folks in his area will be around 3 hrs drive time, and the Muskegon area guys are about 3.5 hrs as well as the Jackson/GR/Lansing area people give or take.

so all in all, 1 to 4 hrs depending on where abouts your in the state. camping WILL BE AVAILABLE on site for weekend events if its not just a one day! Electric but no bathhouses i think, but porta pottys are available as is Rest Room in thier Clubhouse. they have some limited concessions on site as well. not sure if they will be used when we are there unless the turnout is good.

now for the GOOD STUFF> the Club and Track is one of only 3 Michigan AMA Sanctioned tracks currently in good standing with all current credentials. It was started in 1967, and other than a slow period once in a while, its still going well. but with things changeing they only have 3 weekds (6 races) scheduled for this summer and maybe the States end of year...

the oval they run on is HUGE. we will have use of the full infield. there is a big dogleg off the oval as well which has room in the middle. in the main oval,
there is room for a seperate dirt oval (utilizing some of the bike track) and then a full size mx track. which i think would be the way to go with 2 individual tracks. one of the chair owns an escavating and paving company can you say onroad in the future! So. they have the Background, they have the room, they have the equipment, they have the OPEN WEEKENDs they would like to fill to help suppliment the slower times.

So. everything so far on this possible location is moving forward with Excellent Results. i spent about 2 hrs there, ran the baja on the ice (the Pond is large enough they are thinking of having PWC racing as well, and have Ice racing with sleds in the winter, so we can have ice races too if anyones interested in some cold fun.

baja did pretty good until i got too close to the bank n popped the front wheel off. lol

so Pony up if you would like to do some Large Scale Racing here in Michigan.
its going to be a work i progress atm, but with your support, we can have a great summer.

i saved a few goodies for last.

THEY HAVE LIGHTS, and WOULD LIKE TO DO NIGHT RACES!
there is also room for a Drag Strip
events can run Fri Sat or Sunday. to 11pm. maybe later as we wont be as loud. no noise worries at all.

so its all up to US and our participation level.

i ll update more as i can.
