Default NEW GUY

I AM NEW TO THE WORLD OF RC AND HAVE BEEN THINKING OF GETTING INVOLVED IN SOME DIRT OVAL RACING. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE TRACKS IN MY AREA AND ALL WITHIN REASONABLE DRIVING DISTANCE ARE DIRT OVAL, SO I THINK THATS THE WAY I WILL GO. MY QUESTIONS ARE 1. ARE MOST OF THE DIRT MODIFIED CARS USUALLY CONVERTED 2WD TRUCKS? 2. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE LOSI SLIDER 1/10TH SCALE SLIDER? 3. BOTH OF THE TRACKS IN MY AREA RUN ELECTRIC AND NO NITRO, NO SLIDER SPEC CLASS SO WHAT WOULD IT TAKE TO MAKE THE SLIDER COMPETITIVE WITH THE CUSTOM WORKS CARS? 4. ARE THERE ANY RTR LATE MODEL KITS EXCEPT THE MINI LATE MODEL? 5. WHAT WOULD BE A GOOD RECOMMENDATION FOR A GOOD STARTER CAR, I'D LIKE TO GO WITH 1/10TH SCALE AN AM CONSIDERING A SLIDER? THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

Thanks for the reply, those are some good links. I just cant decide which one to get. I just like the larger scale of the 1/10th vs 1/18th, just not sure how much money I would have to dump in to slider to make it competitive with the mod custom works cars, the mini late seems to be the way to go for simplicity reasons.

Default dirt oval

while the losi may not be quite as good as the more costly sliders they look to be very good and remember its mostly the driver as we have all seen in the past...We have a gluy here in Michigan who runs a(off road) traxxas in the mod truck class an whips the losi's and assoc. regularly....here in Michigan all the latemodel guys run the assoc. tc3 & tc4 4whd. cars. the reason being if u have a belt drive and it is exposed to the elements dirt an dust can get into the belt and bind things up.. I see on other forums some racers are running 2whd. buggys for there late models but for lus it is the tc's....they make for some awesome side by side racing.... wish u the best... Tom

The newly released Losi aluminum idler gear for the 1/0th Losi Slider helps the tranny immensely. Rumor has it that a late model version of the 1/10th Slider will be out soon. If so, it will be a good car since they are very hard to break. This is how the mini Slider and Mini late model were released.
