Default New 1/5 scale Onroad FG GT Bodies

Well it seems like FG had released two new bodies for the GT class. I guess FG is pushing for GT class growth. I am sure that they will succeed!!!!!

The porsche is a medium chassis (510mm) and the BMWs are long wheelbase (535mm).

Default FG Porsche 997 911 RSR body

I was looking at the Porsche body just yesterday and found out something that is very wrong. It is the wheel base. It is to long and does not meet body specs. It is outside of the 5% rule. I figured out the max the wheelbase could be is 497mm.

interesting....if that is the case, then why would FG produce something that does not meet the specs.
Well, i am sticking with my short wheelbase 911, primarelly cause tjhe 993 body only comes in 465mm.

I am also running the short chassis under my porsche. I got a full day of test at Timezone last summer to get car set up. I was happy with the results. I was running within .1 sec of the STC car. The Porsche was faster.

LuisR thank for your research on these bodies, I wonder if they are available yet? And if so where? I liked those bodies from the manufacture in Demark.have you seen them???? they two or three muscle cars aready like ..the mustang, but I am waiting for the camero.....sorry Scot, Steve N, and James D

Ron,

I just loved the Battleground, Washington the timezone track it is awesome. I liked the layout and various degrees of different turns and of course the banked curves and fall away turns. What I would to ask you is these new bodies form FG what chassis that FG manufacture would these GT bodies fix correctly? meaning will any of the porcshe bodies fit the evo 4 through 8? or would they fit the FG comp long base chassis? which ones? thanks for your response.

Carlton,
the new porsche GT3 body will only fit the MEDIUM chassis (510mm) and the other two bodies (Z4M and E90 M3) are LONG wheel base (535mm).

Carton,
I used my Evo 7 to make the short wheelbase chassis. You just have to drill a few extra mounting holes in it to make it work. I used Magura II master cylinders and a home made radio tray so the masters would work. I also change back to the Solo fuel tank.

FG used the medium chassis because many body will fit on it. The short chassis only has the Porsche GT2 and 997 GT3 bodies that fit. I do not know what ROAR will do with a body out of specs.

Ron, just to clarify the body types. The two bodies that will only fit the short chassis are the:

911 993 GT2
http://www.rc-car-online-shop.de/lsh...ssen_kurz,.htm

and

911 996 GT3
http://www.rc-car-online-shop.de/lsh...ssen_kurz,.htm

then the new MEDIUM chassis 911 997is this one below:
http://www.rc-car-online-shop.de/lsh...en_mittel,.htm

so in total there are 3 different Porsche 911 bodies, two are short wheelbase (993 and 996) and 1 medium wheelbase chassis (997).

Ron, i think you are right, i just ran a few calculations of the 993 body and the 997 body. In real life the 993 GT3 body is 2272 mm (89.4 in), and the 1/5 scale is 465mm, so if we multiply 465 times 5 we get = 2325mm, so the difference in percentage is 2.18%, which is acceptable (under 5%).
But the 997 number are much more greater. The real thing is 92.7 in (2355 mm), so yes, they increased the wheelbase a bit (3.3 in), and the 1/5 scale is 515mm, so if we do the same math, we get 8.54% of difference. By my calculations they should have made the 997 with a wheelbase of no more than 482mm.

Ron,

I have to hand to you that chassis looks awesome...the workmanship in development of that car has my interest. I can see where it is just as fast as the super sedans I am afraid to even ask you how much you would ask for to sell it. Especially since it s one of a kind. You are individual with many talents.....thank you for your information...and I hope I see you in August 2009 for the Nationals
