Hey Tim, I work with your buddy Matt and looked at his tires yesterday. He had questions, I use to race motorcycles on ice before I got too old, or busted up, or both...

This looks like a lot of fun. Watch for tire grow. Lots of weight with the studs in there even though the tires are a firm compound. Tires like the single rib around for the sand I think would work better for the front. Matt had a narrow ribbed set but the rib wouldn't be wide enough. I think that would be the hot ticket, just space out the studs.

Hey Chad, hows it going. the Hostile tires are Great, they dont expand at all, even with the weight of the studs. which is why i spend a bit more for the Hostiles. these tires already have around 10 gallons on them and only show minimum wear. but i ll leave these studded and get a new set of MXs before to long. the stock fronts on the ohter hand, are ok, but wont hold up TOO long. i ll probably try to mod them a bit with a screw plate on the inside to hold the screws better. the HPI tires are good, just not all that thick.

wasnt too bad, but at 40* the ice was WET as hell. but safe at 15inche thick yet. hardest thing was trying to keep the air filter dry. wasnt too bad but after 15 or 20 mins, it was starting to choke out due to the water saturating the air filter.

Man that Track is BIG. WAY bigger than i hoped it was. i ll be editing and uploading some of the vid i got. wasnt much, as it sat on the dash of my Van while we were getting some runs in.
should have it ready maybe tonight or tomorrow.

Cool Tim,I would like to check out that video. Matt said the air filters were getting soaked, they are in a bad place really. Maybe a cover or guard to keep them dry. Like cutting a 1 liter pop bottle and sliding that over the top of the filter or something. We used to do similar mods when we ran the bikes on the ice.
