Default well some great news

i got a calls from two 1/5 scales racers that confirmed that they are going to be joining us during our point series this year. So I have to tell you that second place will be up for grabs in super sedan class LOL hint hint

No, really guys the season will be alot of fun but, both racers are experienced and very very fast. So I have change the names on the championship trophy now.

I would have to guess that you are referring to Hugh and Dinno.
Did you tell them that we have a rule at 301 raceway that states that all drivers from out of the country must add a ballast of 1500gms to their cars in order to compete with us! JK. It would be awesome to watch and lean from such drivers. I hope that they can make it.

Default hey allan

hey Allen,
I just got a PM from a sponsored 1/5 scale driver who will be racing with us and he has a brand new stock engine for you to use since you don't have a legally engine in your car. He has said you are welcome to it to use. I thought that was nice of him. But I told him that you and Brian were taken care of the situation. But the offer still stands he said. Just wanted passed that on to you.

Tell the "mystery" sponsored driver thank you for the offer. I've got Alan's timing cover situation under control. His motor will be legal for whatever races he attends. But that is still very kind, motors aren't cheap. Stock or otherwise.

P.S. Does anyone have an adjustable clutch they're looking to get rid of?

P.P.S. Carlton, spoke with my friend Eddie and your chassis will be done Monday/Tuesday.

You guys can add another new racer to the 1/5th ranks. As it turns out I just bought Brians old car from Frank at pro5thscale. Not sure if it will be in GT or sedan. I'll know when it gets here .

Well Brain must have a complete used car lot of 1/5 scale cars. He has sold more 1/5 scale cars than I own LOL Paul welcome to the fold of "realistic racing of r/c cars. You will fine the you have enter a world which is the closest to actually racing a real car without being seated inside. Your car should perform like a real racing machine from tune'n set ups to manage'n your tire wear. Plus you have a host of people who willing to help you and really don't keep secrets about their car set-up and parts (at least not yet)

I and I am sure i can speak for the rest of the 1/5 scale 301 raceway family look forward to you being on the track with us.

Thanks Carlton, I appreciate the welcome. My car should be here today as per FEDEX, we shall see. I'm getting a clear CLK DM with it and I'm thinking of doing my standard Smokey Yunick colors, but with a twist.

it depends!!!
it depends on you driving style, on the track conditions, etc, etc.
what i do is:
if the air temp is below 70 deg F (cold weather)
use a lower viscosity oil
for example,
4k to 5k up front and 2k to 3k in the rear, also and very important is how much rebound you set your shocks to. By that I mean the more oil you put in the shocks beyond the marker line the more rebound you will have.
I tend to put more rebound in the rear than in hte front so that when I am off throttle the weight shifts faster to the front, giving me more grip up front off throttle.
For hot weater use 5k to 7k in hte front and 4k to 5k in the rear.
In terms of spring it depens on you, you could start off with reds all around (for 301) and if you need more traction in hte rear (i.e the car spins out on trottle) then use a softer spring (orange, yellow) on the rear to allow more weight trasfer.
hope tjhis helps
LRR
