Default SoCal oval tracks, paved and dirt?

I am trying to get back into dirt oval racing and possibly start racing paved oval. Where are there tracks in the SoCal and central Cal? Do any tracks race winged sprint cars on their paved oval programs?

Hello...hello...echo. I gues oval is so strong you don't need any more racers to support this thriving Socal scene. Oh well, don't complain when dirt oval ceases to exist like it did at our home track......

Quite honestly, very few dirt oval racers come here. Your best bet is to go to dirtoval.com. You will probably get a better response.

Roofslide,

www.southwesttour.com is our homepage for the Paved Oval traveling series.

We just concluded our 2008 year, and will start racing again Feb. 21st, 2009.

We do about (5) Velodrome races in Southern Cal. (In Encino on the Bicycle Velodrome)

We'll probably be doing 3-4 races up in LINDSAY CA (between Bakersfield and Fresno) on the CARPET OVAL and possibly 1-2 races on the Central Coast in Lindsay CA

Hot Rod Hobbies in Saugus races Paved Oval the 1st Sunday of the month.

Camarillo runs Dirt Oval runs twice a month on Saturday nights.

Racer's Haven Hobbies in Bakersfield runs Dirt Oval on Friday Nights twice a month.

Central Coast R/C Racing in Nipomo CA, runs On-Road and Paved Oval the 1st Sunday of the month (Off until February)

Thanks for the info. I would like to try paved oval.I have an RC10L30 and a KSG gen 1 slider either of which I know much about. Got them in a trade. Would those cars be competetive, or at least get me started? 4 cell and 21.5, or 27t brushed?
Who makes the Nastruck bodies that are prefered for oval? I like a couple McCallister bodies I saw. HPI had some too. THX for your help.

Roofslide,

The KSG Gen1 is a great car to start with, the 10L3 would probably work too.

Most of the oval stuff now is using LIPO batteries. (Orion 3200 or 3400)

They were running a 4 cell spec (27t brushed) class at Hot Rod Hobbies and Racer's Haven in the past. I know there is/was some talk about upgrading that class to 21.5/LIPO at HRH, but I don't know the outcome.

Our series runs the 17.5 motor w/ LIPO for our truck class (our guys like OUT of CONTROL trucks - lol )

For truck bodies, the McAllister TOYOTA is popular, as is the Protoform ORT body. (on the SHORT tracks) On the velodromes, the HPI Silverado, the McAllister Toyota is popular too.

The 10L3 is still a VERY popular chassis for Velodrome racing....
