I got to race on this track one time and all I can say is WOW!! It was a great track. I ran there in August of 1994. So they must have closed after that.

Ricky Jordan of Bolink. I never raced oval with him but I did run some 1/12th with him in GA. Super nice guy. I visited the Whip in the early 90's for some big race they were hosting. It was the coolest track I had ever seen!! Much faster than our oval in Tampa. Anyone remember Rays Track & Hobby?

Ahhhh.......a lot of good times were had turning left.

Nowdays it's all on-road for me.

chuck massey built the PR7 local in florida
kim and jeff davis did the composite craft cars predator, lynx 1and 2
and there was a Z chassis that ran in the early to mid 80's that was made local.

paul wynn when he had brains ran oval with us...now after years of huffing pactra paint and super glue he runs off road?

alot of the cool guys whith hairy chests still run oval and we still chase mike boylan!

who can forget the mandatory 17.50 sponsor decals that had to be on your car to run on the track?

the whip...won't be another one like it or bob hosch...awesome place to race

I will check and see if i have that car action for you...I imagine i probably do. My dad was big into photography back in the late 80's early 90's so i will see if he still has some of the pics from "The Whip". We made the journey all the way from Houston several times to race the Whip. I never did beat Joel Johnson in a main though....That was my dream when i was like 12 years old

Another chassis company called Lazer Lite - I think was also based in the area - or atleast ran cars there. I remember seeing them in a write up one year and begging my parents for one - great little car from my memory.

I am going to Orlando next month, to Disney, would be a far drive to check out the place??

I hate to burst your bubble but Bolink introduced the 1/10 pan car at the WinterNationals (1985)in Orlando. Parma also introducted the 1/18th Cheeta at the same time. Composite Craft came out with their first 1/10th car after our first state race in orlando (1986).We also ran 7 cells-stock motors and 5 minutes (road course).
Bolink also came out with the first LTO chassis.
Composite Craft came out with the links suppension for 1/10th and also 1/12th.

Sorry, but none of those people "started" at The Whip. Yes they all raced there, but they all started in other disciplines of RC.

OK, I guess you'd be the one that knew Bill.

I was there for that first exhibition race, I don't remember seeing any Bolink cars, and ran that class too in the State Series the next year.
