Is this one of the best off road 1/5 scale cars?

Also, what hop-ups are available if I were to get it?

Just my opinion but i think it is the best large scale off roader, especially on the sand. Tones of hop-ups available. Check out www.ddmracing.com for baja products. I got one then three of my friends got one. i must say they are alittle slow out of the box, but throw a pipe on it and see a world of difference.

The 5b is probibly the best supported 1/5 off road out there. Where ever there is an HPI dealer, you have parts. I love my 5bss. The thing is a 27lbs missle that looks as good as it runs.
5bss slow?? I regeared mine with the Robinson Racing speed gears and I am hitting 50 mph on the street. Out of the box stock, the SS goes 45+.
I've seen some regular 5b's with better pipes run great also. You can't go wrong with a 5b.

If I had money I'd choose this then. How hard is the kit to build?

The instructions are fairly easy to follow
dont think you will have trouble building the 5b
you'll get to know it better
