Default GT10 Class bodies

Hey Guys,
Didn't want to clog up the thread in onroad electric with this discussion.

Please post what shells you guys are having good luck with for this class.

I am converting an HPI Super F1 to 200mm witdhth for a bit of fun, but this can also be a more serious discussion about what is out there and available, and what you would like to see.

Firstly, I have seen the new Protoform Corvette and it looks good.
http://www.prolineracing.com/p-571-corvette-c6-r.aspx

Secondly others are using the Lola, but personally this is not to me what the class is about. Functional, but ugly. If you were going to go down that route, I'd prefer more realistic GTP shells (Silk cut Jag and Mazda 787b my favs)
http://www.prolineracing.com/p-326-lola.aspx

Others are using HPI Tuscan's. http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/7474/
Are you having any luck with them?

HPI TVR Sagaris looks interesting http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/17522/

Anyone had any luck running a Porche GT shell? http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/7418/

Others are

Supra GT http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/7486/ ([plenty of other Japanese GT cars, MRS, GTR etc)

Viper GTS-R http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/7473/

Finally, what shells would you like to see?
I can think of a few, that Protoform porche for the L3T looked pretty good.

Interested in your thoughts anyway, more from the performance point of view than the characteristics of the real cars or their owners..

I expect the purpose built shells like Protoform's Corvette will work best as they take advantage of the lack of a front shock tower on the GT class cars.

I think the WorldGT class rules are specifying front engine 2 door GT bodies. The reason for this is that inclusion of rear engine super cars and exotics increase then chances of bodies warping over time into the door stop type bodies we run in 1/12th and we used to run in 1/10th.

While I am currently running an HPI Saleen S7 I think these rules are a good idea for the long term health of the class.

Sure thing Adrian. I hope this does allow shells from all GT manufacturers though, rather than just Corvette and Dodge.

I would be interested in seeing a take on the current Aston Martin GT cars http://www.astonmartinracing.com/

I will mod initial post as such to include front engine only.

I suppose this ABC Hobby body for the Tamiya 103GT is what you were meaning:

I noticed this Datsun GT body also, looks pretty cool:

I think a homologation list is the best way to go. Unfortunately, most racers prefer to drive with ugly bodys but good aerodynamic.

The IIC and US Indoor Championships have a homologation list but Im sure there could be some room to add a few and even leave room for some of the newer bodies that could be on the horizon

I've run the HPI Corvette prior to Protoforms and am now running the Protoform GT. I've got the Proto-Form Corvette ready to try in a week or so after getting the Lipo /21.5 brushless set up.

simply put, the bodies have to work, especially with anything more than minimal power on asphalt... i think the daytona prototype body is a nice compromise between uber-slippery lmp type bodies and gt.. i'm ordering a sophia and i'll run it with a 13.5/10.5 and lipo.. we'll see how that goes..

I think that finding a body that works and finding one that people can relate with is a delicate dance. With bodies in TC that look less and less like actual race cars (much like NASCAR's CoT) a little realizm would be a good thought to consider

of all bodies, gtp/lmp, daytona proto have the best chance of working and looking real.. we race cars that have a rediculous power to weight and in the real world, when you have this sort of power to weight, a serious aero package is a necessity.. there is a reason taxis look like taxis and and saleens and vettes look like rockets laying down..
