Just got mine and i love it.Only thing I see that i wish they had done different is the wing mounting.Kind of a pain to take the screws out to adhust the wing. They should have molded in something on the cage with a hole for a body clip or something. Here's My blood red metallic Slider:

What is everyone using for tires on a dirt oval? Im thinking that the stock tires wont work unless its a super hard blue groove track.

The Dirt Oval Championships will be held at S&N's Trackside in Brookfield wisconsin and it will be the last weekend for oval races until spring. The Slider will be run box stock except for, shock springs, oil, ball diffs and maybe a couple other things, as well as stock motor There is a thread for it under WI/IL Racing.

Harbor is also going to run them box stock, except for the upgrades listed on the box with stock motor as well. They are going to run it that way and then maybe open it up to anything goes later if enough people run them.

so far just the losi street treads, the new ones are a little to soft for my liking on carpet, but I have 2 sets of older tires with the dish rims from a mini-t that i plan on running as well. They definately have a lot of side bite on carpet, to much if you go in to the corner to hard, and just enough on the asphalt. so i am sure it will be good on the dirt.

If you really want to have some fun with it then pair up a RC18R left rear with a pro-line road rage right, just remember to turn right after you turn left

These cars are awsome on dirt. With the 1400's they have enough power to get sideways in the corner like the real ones. We run on a 150' banked clay oval.

Yes it does, around 3/4" if i remember right, plus the 18r tire is narrower so it will drive harder off the right side. You will have to change the stub axle to an 18r as well because of the narrower tire.

I played around with this on my 18R for an oval race, put 18T arms and such on the right side and left the "R"on the left.

Better keep it close to stock rcdougie, dont think GnC hobbies will allow axle changes and such just yet, we'll be luck enough if we get to use different springs and tires too. I'm hoping we can use a ball diff, adjustible turnbuckles, and dual slipper set-up, but not holding my breath.

that was cool, how big was that track ? 30x 60 or so? Our carpet oval here is huge at 100 x 36. The dirt oval we are running this weekend is maybe 50 x 30 with about 5-10 degrees banking at least it was until yesterday. hae to wait and see on friday.

This is a growing class at our club "Gulf Coast Raceway". The guys are running brushless mambas and up to 1500 6 cell packs. For rear tires they are running the Mini-T step-pins. The compound seems to be losi's red compound and hooks up great with the wing in the all the way up and back position.

Default Oval Racing

In my area within 75 miles there is a high banked short carpet oval, a large flat carpet oval, and a small carptet oval; all are running sliders. Last night we had 7 in the stock class (rules are box stock with changes in springs allowed), we also have a junior class starting and there are several kids out with them just not actually racing yet. I run off road in the summer and carpet oval in winter. This is a fun class for an extra and not much cost.
