Default Gearing

yes I use the gears and the clutch bell housing from the 1/10th car, much smaller and lighter and the gears are a finer pitch, and can stand up to the power, and I can get a lot more gear ratios. I also have another setup that I can pretty much use any 1/10-1/8 gear I can find that has the correct bolt pattern like a 1/10 electric TC. I have all these gears and tranny setups from my boats that I dont use anymore, the gear adaptor is the same bore as the gear shaft on the Mugen, slips right onto the shaft and into the pin and setscrews to the shaft, simple easy conversion!! My entire conversion really only has 3 pieces, gear adaptor, motor mount and top plate, oh and a mounting plate for the speedo. (sorry 4 pieces)

The main problem is finding packs that fit the limited space in the car, I've found stuff tha works well and fits but can only get them in 30C and they are a little tall in the car. I also have a guy that has custom built me some packs but they are now almost 3 years old and are a little tired.

Definitely single speed. 2 speed is unnecessary and adds complication to the drivetrain. Electric motors have more torque from start than nitro, therefore don't need the lighter load to spool up.

I'd recommend the Motonica simply because you have more battery choices.

wyattroa,
Most of the stuff seen in this thread is made from scratch. your best bet would be to take the stock top deck and trace it then add the extra material to your template to accommodate the side batteries. Transfer the pattern to some carbon or fiberglass plate then start cutting till it fits. your next option would be to have someone model it in a CAD program and then have it CNC cut. This is how I design stuff and I hope to have my CNC up and running soon.

Thanks, I don't work with customizing that much. I will stop in at the local hobby shop and see if they are able to mock something up for me. I can see where you can use the side mounting points with longer screws. I would just need a bracket made out of carbon fiber and cut, but I have nowhere near the skill to do so.
Robert
