I personally have bad experience with 6S batteries so now Im only using 3S in a 6S config.

First test in the Motonica was 2x Turnigy 40C 6S 3000mah in parallel but it was to heavy and to many cells, 12S to keep track of and of course I had problem with 1 cell

Listen to JR006 and go with quality batterypack!
Orion now have 90C packs I currently running with the old Orion 45C model but they are great

I've heard that from other guys trying to use high cell count Lipos.

How do the cars go with sensorless motors? There was a big problem with cogging in on-road 1/10 a few years back, so it's pretty much all sensored now. Do the big motors cog?
Asking as the RX8 is my first choice for ESC, but the Castle gear is a fair bit cheaper, and by all accounts is reliable from what I hear.

The Mamba Monster system works really well as a non sensored system. it does cog a little from a dead stop and it depends on gearing too.
It's a great system for the money but the sensored systems are more precise and has the ability to manipulate timing for additional efficiency and power.

Mamaba Monster is a good ESC but it cant compete with the Tekin RX8.
Mamaba have no sensor, almost half effect and much cheaper

Here is a clip with two electric BMW Inferno GT1 on 6S
RX8 2000KV T8 (Truggy) 46T/15T (Running cool) Vs. Mamaba Monster 1800kv Neu/Castle 44T/15T (Running pretty hot!)

I've ran it on 6s no problem just make sure the gearing is right or you will over heat quick.

I run the Mamba Monster, it has worked perfectly, but with a non-sensored system there is a dead spot while the system figures out what to do if the car slides backwards. It does'nt sound like a problem until you try to keep your car from backing into a wall if you spin, etc.
My next system will be a Tekin, unless Castle comes out with sensored Mamba Monster system.
I have a Castle controller in my airplane also.

I've Been running an MRX4X, that I converted, for a almost 3 years now, I used a Neu 1515/1y with a castle mamba and 4S3P 6600mah, custom made packs that fit right where the fuel tank went. I was getting between 9-12 minutes of runtime, depending on the type of running, and speed was right on par w/ competitive nitro cars, but much more punch. I switched to the RX8 and the 2650kv motor and played w/ gearing and controller setups and I am able to get 15 minutes runtime (on a race track) and picked up 8-10 mph on the top end. Also w the Tekin I as able to smooth out the throttle and it's much easier on the belts and tires. I know I'm late on this thread, but 6S just seems like a lot of cells for these cars. I'll post some pics next week if I get a chance, it's no Techno wonder, I was just hackin around w/ some graphite and a dremmel one night and it just seemed to work.

That is quite heartening to hear that the cars can go well on 4S. I'd like to run 4S in mine if I can, as it means no mods, and cheaper, but i've guessed it wouldn't be fast. I don't want to beat Nitro's, but at the same time, I want it to be quick!
Still got a few weeks before I can buy cells, so i'll keep digging, and flip-flopping over battery choice!
Post up some pics of the set-up, it sounds good.
