Questions??

What is the preferred motor for a 4s setup in a car like this? Where are you guys gearing them? Has a standard battery configuration developed yet, or is everyone just running whatever they want?

There are no standard configurations because of so many variables. Only 2 commercially available cars exist, Serpent and Montonica. I think they are setup for 4S. The best looking car I have seen uses a 6S battery down the middle using custom made parts on a Kyosho Evolva.

Steve, I'm curious, why did you lay the packs down instead of standing them on their side? Motonica does the same thing. Your car is really sweet looking.

Does having the batteries as out-riggers like that significantly affect performance?
I have the Serpent 960 as prevously mentioned, and was planning on installing 4S batteries as the layout allows, but really don't want to be let down by a poor performer. I'm sure it won't be BAD, but at the same time, I don't want a car that can get whipped by a good 1/10th car!
Getting out-riggers made wouldn't be too hard, and I would then use 6 cell, like most others here seem to.
COmments?

What motor are you running with that 6s and what is the run time?

Default MMP

SNR, How is the MMP holding up? Are you using a separate receiver pack?

Still holding very well with the Tekin 2650 but I have to use a Novak Glitch buster for the the transponder to work consistently.

I want to try the Tekin 1900kv with 6s to get more speed and run time. With the 2650 on 6s it only good for 3min and it shut down because of too much Amp draw.

From what I have been reading on this forum, 6S is the way too go and good batteries are a necessity.

I am getting 10-12min with my 5200 Turnigy and 2650 but I want go at least 15-17min with 6s and 1900kv. I am shooting for a 1 battery change in a 30 min race.

Right, i've decided after reading EVERY page of this thread, that I am going to convert the 960 to a 6S car. Haven't had comments from anyone on my posts (boo hoo me), but it looks like 6S is the only way to go really.
Thought about raising the middle deck to get the batts side-ways in there, but am guessing the car will be way off the left to right balance.
I'm a Tekin fan, so it will probably be an RX8 and 1900kV motor. I'll get the most expensive batteries I can afford, as I figure I may as well do it once, and do it right

It seems to me that the belt drive gets in the way of the batteries!!! If only someone could find a 1985-1986 SG Mk IV 8scale shaft drive to convert to electric . It would weigh less than these setups, and it would be easier to fit one 6s pack in it....Not to mention the less roll resistance of the shaft drive.....

I have a tc4 rtr with a hv4.5 , tekin rx8 and 4s pack, without anything hanging outside of the car! I can put 6s if I want with no issues at all, except for being too fast and heavy! I think electric 8scale shaft would be the ultimate solution here. With 4s(370g) my tc4 weighs about 1705g!!! I would think an electric 6s sg mkIV would be about 2500g, if you choose your batteries carefully....
