Can someone say "Speak of the devil"??

Excerpt:

Serpent has announced that they have developed the first purpose made 1/8 scale electric on road car. Based on the highly successful Serpent 966 platform, sharing its main components, but the center section is completely different and is reserved for the electric components. It features a purpose designed nylon bracket / holder for all components, such as the 2 pairs of saddle packs, the speedo and the receiver. The large high power brushless motor is securely mounted on a sturdy aluminium motor plate between the rear 2-speed bracket and the aluminum radio plate support and all elements have been positioned in such a way that an optimal weight balance of the car is maintained. The release date is expected to be mid December 2009. Serpent will also offer a conversion set, to change your 960 or 966 into a full blown electric racer.

Serpent 966 brushless is great news but 4s liporacing?...hm i guess the ampdraw would be too high in a car like that (i already now though), i would prefer 6s and lower kv on the motor. I guess the batteries will hold up for maximum 5 minutes on 4s and 60mph. In a 1/8th onroadcar the faster it goes in the turns the better it performs, unlike for a 1/8th scale buggy there you are more gently on the throttle...

Rules for this should be 6S.
8 minute heats and mains (like 12th scale is today).
All other ROAR 8th scale nitro rules apply (weight TBD)

I've race 8th scale on road & off in 30 minute A-mains before. 30 mins..that's a very long time to be clenching your ass so tight only dogs can hear it. I'm cool with 8 mins for heats and mains.

Edam gas version was quite all right, though not as well know as Serpent.

The Serpent car does not surprise me a bit....it is just like everyone did their conversion here, nothing special....or I should say, it is suppose to be that way. I just want to see what kinda LIPO they are planning to run and what KV motor that is....then, how long does that last and some video about it running against some Nova Rossi powered 966 with 2 speed....side by side.

Once that is accomplisted, my order will be in....really.

What has the highest MAH and C rating lipo in the market right now? IB? Or the Gold thing...?

Beside....I wish I can see the Serpent 966 has the (2)3S lipo (total 6S powered) going across, with extended spur gear shaft so the side belt will pull more outward in order to fit the 2 lipo....then has the steering servo to standup and rotate 90 and fit right in front of the (2)3s...with that kinda voltage, then I can try out some 2050kv range of motor instead of 2850....

I just don't see the current 4S saddle pack can get the 1/8th on road car going to match our expectation...at least not this year lipo technology.

from the picture I conclude they are not using the same size of saddle packs already mentioned earlier in this thread http://www.rc-mushroom.com/product_i...ducts_id=16347

So they are using 1S (3.7V) Lipo's....

Allthought with these saddle packs, you will have a 8S/4800mAh configuration!
http://www.lrp.cc/en/products/vtec-b...c-74v/details/

Or maybe 4S/9600mAh....

They came fast!
The packs from the rc-mushroom link and the packs from the picture from your car, are not the same... 3.7V vs 7.4V

Wrong...they are the same thing. This configuration already tested/used by mulitple groups of racer here in this thread including East Bay Pete. And Serpent is probably using the exact same 6000mah 7.4V x 2 configureation like he did except Serpent lay them down flat and Pete did the "Tower of Power" style.

It should be the IB6000mah 30C 7.4V times 2 = 14.8V only...no way they are 8S configuration....(but I would love to see which speedo can handle 8S lipo and 2350kv motor and can last for 5 minutes without blowing up.)

The only people that deserve that punishment are pro drivers.

One minute is a long time when racing. Let alone thirty.
