Default Video and Pics from Waco Tx dirt oval racing

Some excellent racing Sat night. A preview of the upcoming NSCS series race with a lot of people coming down to check out the newest track in the series. 63 drivers a lot of them with 2 or more cars were there. So the place was packed to the rafters.

First the gallery of pit photos

Sprint Car A-Main This race was awesome with 6 of the top drivers there.

I also have widescreen higher res versions of these hosted on my site. Download only at present. They are quite big about 100meg but the wide screen and quality make it worth the wait. They are encoded with Divx. They work best in the divx player available for free at www.divx.com. Get the windoze bundle. They also work in winamp and I think media muncher but I haven't actually tried them on media player.

Default All tenth scale

All of these cars started out as RC10GT's or B2 B3 and B4 buggies. Most of a sprint car is B4 parts. They are a huge amount of fun. Especially since its indoors and we've raced every weekend this month and none of the outdoor tracks have gotten to run once. The track in Waco is really nice. The owners have been into 1:1 oval racing so they know how to prep the track etc. The place has a huge indoor pit area, snack bar, hobby shop and of course the 'dancehall' I started doing the videos a few months ago. First it was a camera on a tripod in one of the corners. Then one night my car went out early and I picked up the cam and tried to follow the cars around. It was pretty easy to do and I worked out a method for videoing a race so I get some footage of everyones car. It takes some work to get the slo-mo right. Deinterlacing the video takes 3-4 hours per race. I edit a bunch of them and let them render overnight. The racers love it because they can see how the car is behaving going through the corners. And we have a nice discussion of everything on rcfiles.com and texasdirtoval.com as I release the videos during the week. The videos I've put up over the last couple of months have gotten 12000 hits so far. I can't turn marshall or help work on the track due to my disabilities so I do the video instead. Glad you liked them.

Default Well how about 20 or so more then

You're in luck mate. I have a whole slew of them hosted on rcuvideos. I take them every time I go to the races. They have been bringing in the crowds. And the guys that hang out at the track love to have something so they can see their cars going through the turns. Soon I'll have a 3 camera rig. Two on a dvr and the handheld. Trying to get that all working before the big races roll around. Do you live near Queensland? I have some buddies there that race drag cars. I used to be heavily into that but got the oval bug a few months ago and it hasn't let up yet. I just finished an EDM.

Forgot to buy a linkage for the throttle/brake so I won't have it broke in for this week but next week its going on the track.

If you are close to Ipswich and aren't doing anything next weekend go check out the QMDRA drag race. I hear they have something special going on that weekdend

Default Took the EDM out for a spin Sat

I was still finishing the car when I got to the race track Sat. Managed to get the last couple of things done up and got 2 tanks through the motor before practice. Managed to get another couple through it during practice. Leaned it just a tad to make sure it would stay lit and hoped for the best. Well as it turned out the car was awesome. Took TQ 2 out of the 3 qualifiers and took 4th in the A-Main in my first race with the car. Or that type of car for that matter. A lot bigger than the sprint car. Gotta find a lot bigger hole to put this one through. But it was almost right on handling wise and there is plenty of power so I don't expect I'll change anything but preload for this weekend's NSCS 2 day race.

Here is qual 3 heat 2 EDM

Default Are you talking about R/C Raceway

Dwayne owns R/C Raceway. I don't know if thats the same Dwayne but I suppose it is. No I just started taking videos there in Oct. So there aren't any that I know of before then. The oval started up in September.

Default I didn't think much of it either until I tried one of the cars

I swore I'd never own an EDM until I drove one. They are butt ugly but a blast to drive. Cheap fun. Made it over to a real dirt oval race at Texas Motor Speedway last Friday night. Ran at Wild Bill's on Sat. After a night at the big track I was stoked and pulled a 2nd place on Sat. Here is a video of the TMS pits and some of the racing action. If you like the sound of a big V8 turn it up and take it all in.

And here is one I did of my EDM in its first race. Some cool stuff at the end of this one as people played after the races.
