Its a 190/200mm wide car. I'm using a protoform Dodge R/T body that came with the car. Its very low and sleek compared to most touring car bodies. One of the guys was kidding me that it looks like the car from the old video game "Spyhunter". The big winged oval track body needs the body post holes relocated, so I put it aside. Its amazing how little tension it takes on the body posts to tweek the chassis. I put some green compound associated pan car tires on right out of the box and didn't have time to make ride height adjustments. Car was sitting at 9mm ride height.

The 128 tooth spur is 51.5 mm diameter. The uncut new rear tires are 63 mm. So until they are worn, I'm starting with 5.75 mm ground clearance with that big spur gear.

The old spur is a 90 tooth 48p. When I ran it with a 19t pinion, I burned up my motor. Even the rear axle was hot. I then went down to a 15t pinion.

So around 21t with a 128spur should give me the same ratio.

I'm looking forward to trying the car with the Associated indycar body. The rear wing I'm guessing mounts to the aluminum posts on the rear pod? I wonder how effective that wing will be at creating downforce?

Is that the Dodge Charger.
Note: The Dodge Charger Oval Body. Is formed with an angle in it to the Left.
This is for Oval racing. So that the car will nose into the corner. It will make the body look like it is not right. Was it you that had problems with levelin your car?

Associated had them on clearance on their ebay store for $8.00 last week. A talented guy at the track is painting it up for me. We have a pretty much anything goes on Weds nights, so I'm going to try an indy car body. It will be like my first RC car, kind of a pan car pre-runner, the Tamiya Lotus 79.

Looked up the number PF1224, apparently its an Intrepid oval track body. "MD". medium downforce?

Yes, it was me with trouble levelling the car. Its 0.5m lower on one side for some reason.

Any idea what AE chassis this is?

This looks to be a 10L (nylon left side, aluminum motor mount), as the 10L2 had a different rear pod (aluminum side pieces).
If the front suspension holes are 3 7/8 inches apart, the chassis plate is a 10L. If less the chassis plate is a 10L2.

It's an associated RC10L with old school front end and aftermarket carbonfibre parts.

Which associated model had the wide track width and the three shock arrangement? And how much of an improvement was made over the years by changes to the rear pod dampening arrangement?

None came from the factory that way. It was a conversion several of us did that adapted the L3t pod to the L2 and we called it the L2.5. If you PM me your E-mail, I wrote the instructions with part#'s on how to do it.

The biggest improvement to the AE rear pod ever was the symmetrical T-bar - most other things on top of that, including the L2.5 were to offer more adjustments rather than to do anything radical. For example, on a high-bite track running high-speed mod, there was no way to get the dampner-disk setup as stiff laterally as you needed to carry all the corner speed you could - enter the tri-shock setup which would allow you do that.

Thanks again Mark. What about changes to the centre shock over the years? What was the improved version?
