Yamadude, did you strip off the anodizing and then clear powder coat? Or just striped off the anodizing and polish? Also i live in s.e. michigan in troy, hopefully we can get a few guys together to run these this spring.
am new to forum and glad to be a member in this world of RC.
I have a Q to ask you guys, since u well experienced than me.
I wanted to buy HPI Baja 5b, and wants to know what u guys think of it, or maybe there is few of u guys that got it already and may light me of it.
I liked how it look ..and saw few video of it, and liked the sand run very much.
so is there a better 1/5 scale that worth buying than Baja 5b? and why is that.
thanks in advance for your time reading the thread.
With 40 minute run times, no nitro fuel or glow plugs to buy and no tuning or much maintanice required, it would have to be one of the most fun rc's out there Just wish I had one
Its just striped and polished I didnt clear it yet im going to see how she looks after a while.Slammer my wifes grandmother lives in troy and Im in troy offten working.Im in White Lk.
Yes, I agree the Baja is totally awesome! I've been into R/C of all types for 24yrs now, and this is by far one of the most thrilling cars to drive! the only things I have done to mine are axle extenders, and a X-can muffler, by far the X-can made a huge difference. I will admit I sold off all my nitro and do get a nitro buzz now and again, so to cure this I'm getting a Hpi firestorm to try out even though it will probably sit most of the time.
I just got one, and all I can say is that it's BIG, REALISTIC, EASY TO START, AND FUN TO DRIVE.
For those who have owned theirs for a while, do you guys do any type of maintenance to the engine after you're done running it for the day. The manual only recommends you empty the gas tank if you're planning on letting it sit for more than 30 days.
It just feels weird not having to put after run oil, etc to the engine.

Just empty the gas tank if you don't plan on running it for a while, and that will be all it needs. The compelling aspect of gasoline engines is that they are not as effected by environmental changes, do not need to be rebuilt as often, and they have excellent fuel economy. The only thing I'm going through on mine are brake pads, but that's something that gets replaced about every 2-3 months.

I have been through some shock shafts thats about it.Gota love the afterrun just blow it off and put it away.Run between 30-40min while my nitro buddys fill tank after tank.Check your rear diff and make sure its full and get the outerwares for the filter and the pull starter there a must.Enjoy
i still own 5 nitro's. but my Baja has been seeing the most time lately. I busted an axel (my fault) and bent one shock shaft (my fault also). my brake pads dont show much wear at all, Eclipse where are you driving yours? and how often? Ive had mine for a month and it hasnt shown much brake fade (just a little bit)
Here is a write up I did on a fellow rc tech member's blog. it is also on hPI Pitstop but ive been having trouble with the editor over there Baja Break-Down
tell me what you guys think.
