This is the new home of Legends... Rick Jordan owned or shared ownership of Bolink back in the day, can't remember exactly. Others here would know the story.
Tower Hobbies carries the parts as do several online stores on ebay. I just ordered some chassis rails from MyAtomicHobbies.

will a standard 1/10th scale rear axle work on the legends chassis?

Yes, the Trinity 4-cell Spec pack was the battery of choice. Good luck finding them though. Has your local track madated those batteries or are you just putting a car together to run? At that rate, any 4-cell pack will do, especially used NiMH packs from racers switching over to Lipo. Dirt cheap with lots of life for spec racing.
Axles might be a different ball of wax. Legends use the typical steel axle that Bolink/RJ Speed use which have a weird offset. I don't think my oval axle would work because of the right hub offset. Check the RJ Speed website to see a schematic of the parts used and the instructions for the kit.

the bolink steel axles as with most bolink axles had a different offset. Go to RJSpeed.com. RJ is Rick Jordan from Bolink fame and he makes the Legends stuff. Batteries use any battery as they should be cheap used.

What is the purpose of the 4 cell batteries assembled in 2 rows as opposed to the 4 cells laying side by side? Also, I do have some old 6 cell batteries that I could break down into 4 cells but want to make sure that they will meet spec. What numbers should I look for on the battery? Pardon my ignorance about batteries.
The orginal legends batteries were made in a stick pack. They were 1600mah batteries. Most batteries now a days is any thing from old 3300's -4600's. I don't think your going to find any 1600 stick packs. Just make a regular 4 cell pack - they fit better and the only thing they do is give you more run time.Your going to be able to pick up old round cells cheap since lipos are taking over.Just make sure you make each pack with the same type of cells. The best thing is to ask the guys running them and ask them what they are using. If there are not running and your starting from scratch use the rules and modify them to suit your local needs.Keep it since- like the car.

http://www.bolink.com/ They are in buisness, I have bought a body from them. RJ Speed only offers a couple styles for the legend. Bolink has all the same style as long ago.
Yes he brought Bolink and is in Iowa. But the person that designed them and most everything else for the orginal Bolink is RJ Speed (Rick Jordan). The three piece front end was designed but not sold several years before Bolink was sold out.
