Default 1/5: How big of a receiver pack (cells & mah)?

What can you safely run without burning out a receiver and what do you get for run time?

I built a 5 cell 3800 pack, I could run a whole day on it, I have never had to recharge while running it.

Thanks everyone for the responses! I purchased a 7 cel 3800 pack off of ebay and converted it to a 5 cell. All I can say is wow! My old pack must have been dead because it is so much faster now and it dosn't need a charge every couple of minutes! Too bad I had transmitter problems because I had really wanted to go to RAMS this past weekend.

You missed a great race this past weekend. Next time come on out. Plenty of racers would have loaned you a pack.

Well, what happened is I went to go test everything out (for the first time ever, the day before the race, late at night ) and the transmitter wheel wouldn't re-center (NOOOOOO!). So I hope for the best and figure that the clock spring just broke. I commence to take the transmitter apart (JR R-1) and one of the upper allens on the drop down base wouldn't come out! The whole front assembly came off of the transmitter but it wouldn't split apart because of one allen screw! One of the nubs had broken flush with the steering case so it would just spin with the screw. So after a couple of hours of blood, sweat, stress breaks and berrating at the control I manage to remove the screw. The spring was broken (off course ) and suprise suprise, the potentiometer is loose( ). I glue the potentiometer back in place, make the spring work, put humpty back together, go to sleep close to 6am and wake up at 11ish to find out that it was all a nightmare. The end
