Default Novarossi Ielasi Tuned Engines - Official Thread

Hi guys, if you have any questions regarding the Ielasi Tuned range of On-Road nitro engines, then post them here in this thread.
If I can't answer them myself, I will refer them to Daniele.

The 9CL WC is the top of the line engine, using the latest technology from the Mito 35 WC engine Simon Kurzbuch used to win the worlds, but retaining the Ielasi Tuned ethos, using a 14mm crankshaft for lower rotating mass and a higher RPM.

The 9XL is an engine designed to produce very high amounts of torque, in doing so retains a good fuel economy and may suit drivers who want an engine with lots of bottom end grunt!

The 7CL is an engine designed to produce a similar power band to the 9CL WC, but with a reduced fuel consumption, giving you an increased economy and tactical advantage on tracks where fuel economy is all important.

Find the specs of the engine line below:

No, the R7 rod is used in both engines. The crankpin on an xtra long stroke is rotating a wider circle (17.6) and because the larger travel the bore of the sleeve is smaller (15.88 mm) to stay on the 3.5cc capacity.

Also because the wider travel of the rod there are 2 cuts in the sleeve to fit the rod on its widest position and not to place a normal long stroke sleeve the position pin on top of the crank case is positioned different.

With the win on the worlds with the new 35WC it seems the xtra long stroke does not work well for Novarossi and so they seem to focus on the normal long stroke.

Has anyone raced one of these motors and how much of an improvement over a base Novarossi motor?
I'm most interested in .12 motor it looks like a flash12 or keepon based motor.

I have the .12 Ielasi Tuned and raced it at last year's biggest race. With the right pipe (tried several but the efra 2669 was by far best) it has great full range acceleration and top speed.

I had a previous Nova Flash PT that was tuned by Ielasi which was also excellent.

There is nothing wrong with a normal/stock tuned Nova's, but the Ielasi just seem to be a bit faster in terms of my lap times.

All engines seem very fast these days (once I find the right carb and clutch setting and gearing). Just takes a lot or trying and testing things with an eye on lap times more than on how it feels. Often my fastest laps don't feel like fastest laps.

If I recall correctly, the Nova box it came in was labeled "IDT-ON." It may Keep-On based given the name.

Yes the 3CL shares a lot of parts with the Keep On .12, but the timings are specific to Ielasi Tuned to improve power over stock, also a lot of work is done to the crankshaft, crankcase and sleeve to improve fuel flow.

I've not tried the 3CL on track, but the reports I've heard have been great!

Having discussed this with Daniele, he prefers the 16.8 stroke engines by Novarossi, and Simon Kurzbuch has just won the worlds on this type of engine.

A lot of the technology on the 9CL WC is taken from the Mito 35WC such as the sleeve design, new style rear back plate, but the 9CL WC retains the 14mm crankshaft for less rotating mass.

I just ordered 3 of the new Ielasi tuned 9CL WC engines, will do the main break in in my new oil bath break in stand and then go to the track.

Can someone explain the differences between the motors. There are 2 versions of each motor. Are they both modified just one more than the other?

1) machine tuned + steel bearings
2) hand tuned + ceramic main bearing.

Yes in short, the tuned "Spec" version of each engine is hand tuned and comes with a ceramic rear bearing. The Standard "On" version is steel bearings and not tuned.

Do you mean both are the same crank timing, same crankcase, and it only better piston sleeve tolerance?

I have measured my 9CL engines and all 3 are the same in timings which are very different than any Novarossi (based) engine I have seen.

I can imagine there is a difference in timings between machine tuned (Novarossi spec) and hand tuned (Ielasi spec).
