New 8 scale petrol class engine possible

There is this petrol engine now:
Dynamite .31 Gas Engine (5.1cc) w/CDI

And if it fits 8 scale onroad chassis it will be possible to run a CDI engine on petrol.

Has anyone tried this in a 8scale chassis and what are the results.
Looks like this could be a nice "trouble free tunable engine option" class
with affordable fuel and better runtime`s.

The RPM is limited to 30.000 due the ignition system. The huge torque makes it possible to use a different gearing but you do need to have such gears to make it competive.

In the 1/10 there are some conversions to 4-stroke which do come with different gears, the OS FS26c is most used. In the 1/8 buggy you can find conversions with the OS FS40c

And there are also diesel conversions.

This is a 2 stroke engine with high power.

The vid with a 8 scale offroad looks like enough power also for onroad.
Its fairly new i think so maybe not on the market just yet.
probably nobody tried it yet.

Well they cant be winners right out of the box dude. Sometimes you have to break a few eggs to learn how to make an omelet! I hope that with time comes a better design, as it would help a resurgence of the nitro class for sure!

It won't be the "nitro" class if you eventually go to this new petrol engine (once the issues are worked out). R/C evolves and eventually this might be the next evolution of the hobby. Think about spending $6-$7 for a couple of gallons of gas and a $2 bottle of 2-stroke oil instead of $20-$35 (depending on where you live and what your LHS sells nitro fuel) for a gallon of nitro fuel. Oh, also removing the cost of a glow igniter (if this engine works the same as a 5th scale engine).

been reading it, and i agree with you guy`s. Hopefully they will resolve these gremlings and get this engine durable.

Its real promising though also for 8th scale onroad i think.

It better be electronic ignition that can map timing via a ESC and a crank sensor or we're going backwards. Then add an injector to map fuel as well, KERS on the flywheel and the future seems bright!
