Post OS CVR replacement piston and sleeve

Hello guys, my OS CVR is due for a rebuild i am looking towards two alternatives replacing it with the duratrax piston and cylinder assembly or the dynamite assembly.

Are the piston and cylinder above better than the original OS CVR units? Any other suggestions apart from replacing motors.

first off i hope you mean os 12cv, not cv-r. nobody makes a set for the cv-r but os......i've never seen the dynamite piston set.. you sure it exists? i know duratrax makes one and it is fine.... especially for $20

I don't think Duratrax makes one for the CV-R, just the CV.

Also you'll find a mixed response on these sets. I personally have used two sets and find it a VERY good alternative for $20 as opposed to the OEM from OS for ($89 was it? $69?) Never had problems . . . . .

Problems like (I've heard) the chrome plating chipping off in a short time. Problems like them losing compression very quickly. Many also claim the tolerances are poor and not good enough for racing.

Like I said I've used them twice, most recently on my wife's OS and the compression came back nice and strong and it runs well.

Hey, KHB makes some piston/liners for the O.S. .12 CV-R and .15 CV-R. Either graphite or copper piston and silver sleeve, no idea what difference the graphite will make...Probably cause bad balance.

Take a look:

Lucky me, duratrax make a true ABC sleeve/piston kit for my .12 CV for just $19.99, the bearing replacements are also 1/4 the cost

Hey dude as far as im concerned the CV and CVR have identical blocks i opened them up at work yesterday and they were the same only the CVR had diffrent shaped carvings on the cylinder

correct me if im wrong....

So does the duratrax one better than the original O.S.
