Default Crank cleaning

hi huys, i have an old engine that i need help with. it has some surface rust on the crank and i was wondering what would be the best way to get it back to looking new again.

toothbrush and some toothpaste. if the rust is very heavy use some metal polish, but don't polish it up, just use it enough to rub the rust off.

you can also use the green side of a dishwashing pad and some detergent.

after cleaning, wash it down with some water and pop it into the oven at 100degrees celcius so it dries compeltely and doesn't rust again, then smear it with any light engine oil, or after run oil, or automatic transmission fluid.
